The Constituency Development Officer (CDO) for NMC, Nason Nunufia confirmed that the projects were procured under the 2025 CDF budget, specifically under the Preferred Supplier Arrangement (PSA) $3.2m component of the CDF.
He said the project delivery covers the Productive and Resource Sector, Essential Services, Cross-Sectoral and Inclusivity Initiatives, and Social and Cultural Obligations, all in accordance with the CDF Act 2023.
“Our current objective under the NMC development plan is to support and boost the productive sector.
“Mainly we focus on projects related to agriculture, through small income-generating initiatives like village canteens, fishing, piggery farming including material and infrastructure support for cocoa and copra production.”
Materials and equipment delivered include:
- Full hardware materials for piggery infrastructure under the productive sector including building materials for the housing.
- Goods and items for household projects targeting income generation.
- 35 rain-Water tanks for community households.
- Two utility vehicles, 5 boats & OMBs for the basic setup of the North Malaita Constituency Development Growth Centre (CDGC) including fishery initiatives and other building and construction materials for schools and health centres in the constituency.
CDO Nunufia said that small material support for farmers especially drums for copra and cocoa dryers will support the production output targets for the constituency small holder farmers.

Member of Parliament for North Malaita Constituency, Daniel Waneoroa, along with his officers, provided support to Afufu Community High School. The assistance included $10,000 cash for labor costs, a Starlink set, and hardware materials to enhance learning facilities and improve access to digital connectivity for the school
“This is crucial for the coconut and cocoa producers in NMC because these are the two main commodities in this northern region and ones which many of our rural households depended very much on as their main income sources.
NMC also supports households with rain water-catchment facilities such as water tanks.
“This is included in our housing support program. We are also embarking on establishing our Constituency Growth Centre (CGC).
“To start off with, we have procured boats and vehicles which will go towards our logistics and transport support needs in our establishment of this CGC.
“We have worked in dividing our Constituency into zones in which we can organise our plans and implement them accordingly in a more orderly way. There are three wards in the NMC, and our proposal is to develop two centres which act as hubs for growth with inputs in agriculture and fisheries driving sectors for support and growth” CDO Nunufia explained.
“Initial investment and inputs will be slowly built strategically in the two productive sectors of fisheries and agriculture.”
Hon. Waneoroa in his remarks stated that under his leadership he has made a commitment to continue investing in these areas under the CDF.
“We believe currently, there is a lack of engagement in productive activities in the constituency. This is the life-line of my constituency.
“Therefore, under my leadership, the constituency office will target to transform primary production into a more comprehensive secondary industry and for that we are putting more CDF emphasis and investment into the productive sector in compliance with Section 26 of the CDF Act 2023.
“Once people understand this framework, we believe it will improve household incomes, provincial earnings, and the national economy.
“We want everyone on deck to help revolutionize North Malaita and the Solomon Islands into a place where people can live happily and enjoy the fruits of their labour,” Waneoroa stated.
