Receiving the equipment, NRH Chief Executive Officer, Dr George Malefoasi, thanked the JJC remaining staff for their commitment to ensuring the new facility is fully equipped and ready to operate.

The CEO anticipates the opening for services in June 2025.

However this will depend on the connection of the electricity lining to the main grid, which work is in progress in connecting the electrical cables to drive a total of 800 ampere as the total amount of power required for the new building.

So far, all equipment is installed including the new CT scan, two dialysis units, the angiogram machine and their work stations, the inpatient beds including three ICU beds and other patient monitors.

These machines will be connected and tested in two weeks following commissioning.

“It is anticipated that services will begin at the ground floor where all consultations for the three specialists’ services, cardiology, nephrology urology along with the acupuncture and pharmacy dispensary services, will begin,” Malefoasi said.

The CEO further stated that the appropriate number of staff estimated for the wing of the hospital is 163 and a skeletal staffing has been identified from the three specialists’ units from the current original hospital departments.
