Three hundred and five students have been awarded the Solomon Islands Government (SIG) Scholarship to do their studies abroad this year.

The recipients received their scholarship awards today during an orientation and award presentation ceremony organised by the National Training Unit (NTU) in Honiara.

Speaking during the ceremony, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development, Franco Rodie says this figure has been budgeted for this year.

He says the 2016 awardees are successful applicants who have met the scholarship application requirements.

“This is the result of the selection process where we identify or the National Training Committee scrutinizes and concluded by awarding the scholarships to students who have applied”

The awardees include both in-service and pre-service students.
