The Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Services has announced it is taking a collaborative approach to manage national security issues.

Permanent Secretary for Police, Edmund Sikua revealed this during the Prime Minister’s visit to the Rove Police Headquarters on Tuesday this week.

Mr. Sikua said the team looking after national security includes two Under Secretaries, the Acting Police Commissioner, Deputy Police Commissioners, Commissioners from the Correctional Services, and himself.

He says the team held its first meeting on Monday and will meet quarterly to assess strategies to ensure the country’s security is enhanced.

“I am pleased to announce that we have established this team and it will meet quarterly. During our quarterly meetings, we will monitor the achievements of the RSIPF Strategic Direction, the Correction Strategic Plan and the ministry’s Corporate Plan, so that we can all together cooperate to ensure that security, policing and corrections are managed properly and are led by capable leaders”, said Mr. Sikua.
