PRC donated Medical Suppliers Worth Over SBD$580,000 to NRH

The People’s Republic of China (PRC) donated medical supplies worth over SBD$580,000 to the National Referral Hospital on 17th March 2026.

H.E. ambassador Cai Weiming, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Solomon Islands said PRC is happy to donate another batch of medical supplies to Solomon Islands.

He noted, health and medical cooperation has always been an important component of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between SI and PRC. Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations in 2019, China- SI medical cooperation has brought fruitful results and become a hallmark of practical cooperation between the two countries.

“Since 2019, China has donated medicines and medical supplies worth over 4 million SBD as well as some urgently needed medical funding to SI. Today’s donation of medical supplies, worth over SBD580,000, cover more than 200 types of urgently needed medicines and medical devices, including antibiotics, antiviral drugs, medications for chronic diseases, as well as devices for diagnosis, treatment, surgery, and nursing care, which are of vital importance in safeguarding lives. It is our sincere hope that this batch of gifts, carrying the goodwill and friendship of the Chinese people, will help enhance the health services of SI”, said H.E. Cai Weiming.

Health Permanent Secretary Mrs. Pauline McNeil thanked PRC for the medical donated supplies. “Today, we have also witnessed the handover of essential medications and supplies to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and the NRH, specifically for the ongoing work of the CMT and CMC services.

“These resources will enable the CMT and their local colleagues to deliver effective and efficient care to patients and will be stored at the dedicated pharmacy within the CMC”, said Mrs. McNeil.
