PS Beck congratulates RSIPF Officers bound for UN Peacekeeping mission to South Sudan

The National Government, through the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Collin Beck, congratulated eight Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) officers on their upcoming deployment to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in South Sudan.

At a commissioning ceremony, Mr Beck praised the officers for completing their training and highlighted the RSIPF’s recent SWAT Challenge achievement.

He noted that this milestone marks a new beginning for the RSIPF as it continues to strengthen its policing force.

“Peacekeeping is built through understanding. As they say, ‘peace is not the absence of war but the ability to handle conflict peacefully’. Do so to allow seeds of peace building, peace-making to grow roots and restore relationships with development,” PS Beck said.

He encouraged the deploying team to represent Solomon Islands with confidence, joining 120 countries that stand for peace and participate in the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission.

PS Beck paid tribute to RSIPF for stepping up to take on global responsibilities, saying, “As a post-conflict country, we know what peace means.”

Addressing the officers, he said, “As representatives of Solomon Islands, you carry our flag, the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and goodwill of our people.”

PS Beck quoted the Holy Bible in Matthew 5:9, saying, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God,” and wished the team strength, courage, safety, and success.

He concluded with a word of prayer saying, “The LORD bless us and keep us; the LORD makes His face shine upon us and be gracious to us; the LORD turns His face toward us and gives us peace” Amen.

He thanked the families of the RSIPF officers, the RSIPF Commissioner, and partners for their support, and commended the collaboration between MFAET, New York Mission, and the RSIPF.
