Police officers in Honiara City have arrested a 28-year-old man in relation to a robbery that occurred at Ranadi, East Honiara last Friday.

Provincial Police Commander Honiara City, Chief Superintendent Alfred Uiga said two armed men allegedly entered a Chinese shop at Ranadi in East Honiara armed with a bush knife.

He said upon entering the shop one of the suspects allegedly pulled out a long bush knife and threatened to kill the shop owner and his employees.

The shop owner and his employees all escaped the shop.

PPC Uiga said it was alleged that the suspects then went over to the cash box, stole all the money and escaped in a waiting car.

The same night the shop owner reported the matter to the police and an investigation was carried out leading to the arrest of the first accused in the early hours of the next day.

PPC Uiga said the second suspect was currently on the run and appealed for assistance from the community.
