The national carrier of the Solomon Islands, Solomon Airlines announces it will re-enter the Fiji market starting this Saturday.

Solomon Airline says this is based on the previous approved operation.

The route is Honiara via Port Vila to Nadi each Saturday, returning on Sunday.

A Solomon Airlines spokesman says while Solomon Airlines has been allowed to resume flights into Fiji, the reality is, it still operate without fifth or sixth freedom rights on a Honiara-Port Vila-Nadi basis.

The spokesperson says the outstanding issue is the rights between Port Vila and Nadi.

Currently, Solomon Airline has nothing beyond Nadi and it want the same fairness and equality to apply to both sides and for Solomon Airlines to be able to operate services to a point beyond.

Solomon Airline says less has improved from the aviation impasse.
