The United Democratic Party had dismissed media claims, it is putting pressure on the Prime Minister to remove any member of Parliament or Minister from the Democratic Coalition for Change Government.

United Democratic Party Secretary, Andrew Donua Muaki made the clarification in response to a print media article last Friday claiming the political party exerts pressure on the DCC front man Manasseh Sogavare to dump certain Government Ministers.

Mr Muaki says UDP is of the view that it is the prerogative of any PM to appoint, transfer, withhold or advice the revocation of an MP as a Minister.

He further explains, the party’s consultation with the Prime Minister, who is the Parliamentary Wing Leader of our Party involves matters ‘unrelated’ to issues reported by the print media.

Mr Muaki says those who claim to speak for UDP on this or any other issue are doing so in their personal capacity as Solomon Island citizens and NOT on behalf of UDP.
