The official launching of the new Police Act has been postponed due to an unfinished work on the Act.

Acting Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga told her weekly press conference today, the Act will now be launched next week.

“This week we’re suppose to launch our Police Act, unfortunately we are unable to do that because of some unfinished work, so we are postponing it until next week before we can be able to launch the Act.”

The Acting Police Commissioner also announced the police have gone ahead to launch its Strategic Direction for this year until 2016.

She said the document will support how the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force delivers service to communities.

“While am talking about the Polic Act we have actually launched our Strategic Direction 2014-2016, and once we’ve launched the Police Act, it will enable us to have a new Act that we can continue to perform policing roles as expected by our communities,” Mrs Matanga said.
