Western province holds performance forum for stakeholders

The Western Province Public Accounts Committee is organizing a Provincial Performance Forum (PPF) at Gizo, the Western provincial headquarters today, Thursday.

The PPF aims to strengthen oversight, promote transparency, and accountability in the utilization of provincial funds, including fixed service grants, own source revenue, and the Provincial Capacity Development Fund (PCDF) grant cycle.

The forum is funded by the World Bank’s Integrated Economic Development and Community Resilience project, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening and the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology.

The forum brings together chairpersons of Ward Development Committees (WDC), the public, and other stakeholders.

It will serve as a platform for stakeholders and the public to discuss the province’s budgets, expenditures, audit reports, PCDF assessment reports, and outcomes of key development projects.

The public will have the opportunity to ask members of the Provincial PAC and the Provincial Administration how public funds are spent.

The chairpersons of the 26 WDCs in Western Province will present their performance reports accounting for the Ward Development Grant.

A similar forum was conducted in Guadalcanal, Malaita, Temotu, Makira Ulawa, Central Islands, Isabel, and Temotu between March and May 2025.

Following the PPF, there will be Ward Forums conducted in the 173 wards in Solomon Island where the chairpersons will present full reports on how they spent the WDG.

These forums will be led by the chairpersons of each ward and supported by the Ward Support Officers.

The public will be invited to each forum to seek clarifications on how their funds were used by the WDC executive.

The forum features presentations on these key reports, followed by discussions, questions, and recommendations. The event will begin at 9:30 AM at the MSG Building in Gizo, Western Province.
