President of Malaita Council of Women Miss Martha Rurai has raised concerns over limited opportunity offered by the Rural Development Fund, RCDF, to rural women in Malaita Province.

SIBC’s East Malaita stringer, Enoch Idui said Miss Rurai is sad to see many rural women in the province have been left out of the RCDF as they strangle for financial support.

“President of the Malaita Council of Women Martha Rurai said it is sad to see that women are currently struggling alone to find financial assistance to support them while being left out of government funding meant for women. Mrs Rurai raised the concern in hoping to get both the provincial and national members’ attention so that when RCDF funds are available, they can be supported under the funds.”

Mr Idui reports President Rurai now calls on all responsible members of Parliament and constituency development officers of the province to discuss the issue with the council and find solutions to this genuine concern.

“Mrs Martha said she wants to see leaders reach down to a level that will enable discussions with women to see their within the community.”
