The 20th Melanesian Spearhead Group Leaders’ Summit has successfully concluded with a resolve for a strong, peaceful,
progressive and prosperous Melanesia.

A government statement says the Summit concluded with mutual affirmation by the Leaders to build a strong Melanesia based on
sustainable peace, progress and prosperity.

A Communique released after their meeting showed MSG Leaders had made a range of key decisions recommended by the MSG Foreign Ministers Meeting.

On Trade, MSG Leaders approved outcomes of the MSG Trade Ministers’ Meeting held in November 2014.

This includes the Port Moresby Declaration on Securing Future MSG Prosperity Through Trade and Economic Integration, and the roadmap for Inshore Fisheries Management and Sustainable Development.

MSG Leaders also agreed to support the MSG Travel Card for ease of travel within the MSG region for business people.

On Finance and Economic Issues, the Leaders want MSG Finance Ministers to further meet and discuss the proposed Melanesian
Emergency Stabilisation Fund and the Development and Investment Fund before the end of this year.

The 20th Melanesian Spearhead Group Leaders’ Summit concluded in Honiara last Friday.
