The Solomon Islands National Council of Women (SINCW) is urging the Democratic Coalition for Change Government to take appropriate action on the more than $54 million unaccounted public funds revealed by the 2012-2013 audit report.

President of the Solomon Islands National Council of Women, Ella Kauhue says, before the new government start talking about establishing an Anti-Corruption Body, it must show this nation that unaccounted public funds be investigated and dealt with seriously.

Ms. Kauhue says, the recent audit report has identified one of the nation’s darkest secret – the manner in which some government Ministries spent public money.

The Council says $54 million is a lot of money for a nation depending entirely on donor funding.

She says people of this country need to know what the money has been spent on.

Ms. Kauhue adds responsible government Ministries must be dealt with accordingly.

She urge the government who is answerable to the people of this nation not to sweep such important revelation under the carpet.
