Hon. Lency Vokia sworn in to new Ministerial Portfolio following reassignment

Hon. Lency Vokia was officially sworn in this morning at Government House as the new Minister for Lands, Housing and Survey, following a cabinet reshuffle under the Government for National Unity and Transformation (GNUT).

The oath of office was administered by the Governor-General, His Excellency Sir Reverend David Tiva Kapu.

Hon. Lency Vokia, who previously served as Minister for Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration, has now been reassigned as the new Minister for Lands, Housing and Survey.

He takes over the portfolio from Hon. Polycarp Paea, who was sworn in on Saturday, 5 July, as the Minister for Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology.

Meanwhile, Hon. Trevor Manemahaga, who previously held the environment portfolio, has been appointed as the new Minister for Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration, with formalities to be completed in due course.

Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele congratulated Hon. Vokia on his new appointment and expressed confidence in his leadership.

“This reassignment supports the government’s ongoing efforts to deliver on its national priorities,” the Prime Minister said.

The cabinet reshuffle is part of GNUT’s broader efforts to strengthen governance, enhance service delivery, and realign ministerial leadership in line with national priorities.
