Local content creators get a boost with M-SELEN’s new online payment platform

M-SELEN, powered by Our Telekom, has officially launched its pilot Content Creators Programme; a grassroots initiative enabling Solomon Islands content creators to earn directly from their fans and followers through local digital payments.

The programme was developed in response to the absence of monetization options for Solomon Islands on global platforms such as Facebook and YouTube. 

Despite producing highly engaging videos that celebrate Solomon Islands’ culture, people, and places, local creators have long been unable to earn income from their work.

Through the M-SELEN Content Creators Programme, fans can now support their favorite creators by donating directly via M-SELEN’s app or USSD (*123#), helping them continue to produce educational, entertaining, and inspiring local content.

“This initiative is about giving Solomon Islands creators the opportunity they’ve always deserved, to earn locally from their creativity,” Head of M-SELEN, Majidul Haque said. 

“It reflects our commitment to inclusion, innovation, and empowering local voices through digital technology.”

One of the pilot content creators, Pana Paza, shared how the programme will make a huge difference for local content creators:

“For years, we’ve created videos from pure passion with no financial return. With M-SELEN’s support, fans and followers can now donate directly and help us keep telling stories that showcase who we are as Solomon Islanders. 

“And the best part is it will support young rural creators to earn and continue sharing their unique stories back home.”

The Programme highlights M-SELEN’s broader vision of building financial inclusion, promoting local entrepreneurship, and enabling digital livelihoods across the islands. 

By turning fan appreciation into tangible support, M-SELEN is helping Solomon Islands creators sustain their craft and inspire a new generation of storytellers.
