A total of 15 suspects have been arrested over the weekend during Operation Zero Tolerance in Honiara.
The suspects were arrested for illegal gambling, unlicensed vehicles, presence of alcohol, and resisting arrest.
Operation (Ops) Commander, Zero Tolerance Mr. Simpson Pogeava said the Zero Tolerance operation will continue on to keep our town a safe place where we can move freely to do our normal business.

Ops Commander Pogeava said the ops are targeted for weekends to make our communities in Honiara safe. Police started this operation a few weekends ago with great success.
“This operation will target the illegal sale of alcohol and kwaso (homebrew) and those gambling illegally in the capital,” he said.
Commander Pogeava said police will not tolerate such illegal activities because they’re unlawful. A police officer and correctional service officer were also arrested during the operation for illegal gambling.
Mr. Pogeava said Operation Zero Tolerance is part of the RSIPF’s Crime Prevention Strategy to ensure our people feel safe on our streets to go about normal business as usual.

He calls on members of the communities to respect each other, and if people are planning celebrations during weekends, they need to take into consideration the welfare of their neighbors.
“Police cannot be everywhere at the same time, but we would like to call on everyone to take responsibility for each other and to feel free to call us if you feel you need any assistance,” Pogeava said.
Police can be contacted on phone at 23666 (Honiara Radio Centre), 27890 (Police Operation Centre), and 20378 (Honiara City Operation Office).
