
Gold Ridge Mining shareholders donate SBD1.5 million to local communities
Chairman of Gold Ridge Mining Ltd, Mingqing Gao, and Ms. Gao donated SBD1.5 million to support the 16 tribes of the Gold Ridge mining communities.
The shareholders, who own 70 percent of the Gold Ridge Mining operation through Wanguo International Mining Group, contributed the funding from their own pockets via the Gold Ridge Foundation initiative.
Speaking at a Chinese New Year event at Gold Ridge yesterday, Gold Ridge Mining Ltd Chairman Benjamin Afuga said the initiative aims to provide assistance to communities in areas such as health, education, and other social needs.
Of the total contribution, Mr. Gao donated SBD 1 million, while Ms. Gao donated SBD500,000 SBD. In addition, Ms. Gao plans to donate SBD50,000 to each of the 21 local churches in the mining communities.

This follows a previous donation of SBD500,000 by Mr. Gao to the communities when the Foundation initiative was launched last year.

Meanwhile, Dick Douglas, Chairman of the Gold Ridge Community Landowners Council, expressed gratitude on behalf of the 16 tribes.
He said the support will benefit vulnerable people, including the elderly and sick, and provide small incomes to help sustain their livelihoods.
He added that the partnership between the communities and the shareholders demonstrates a strong collaboration and pledged continued support for the success of Gold Ridge Mining Ltd and the wellbeing of the local people.
