“Water is life. Everyone should have access to clean water, no matter where they live.

“Access to water is fundamentally essential for every human being’s health, dignity, and prosperity,” he said.

Ambassador Higuchi highlighted that investment in water supply systems strengthens health and resilience across Solomon Islands and contributes to long-term socio-economic development.

“Under this philosophy, we believe this project will have positive impacts on the socio-economic development of Solomon Islands and further strengthen the cordial relationship between Solomon Islands and Japan,” he said.

Ambassador Higuchi also noted that strong community participation is central to the project’s success.

“The community should be the moving force of this project. With the commitment of the community, we are confident that this project will be carried out smoothly and deliver the outcomes it is designed to achieve.”

He expressed hope that the project would be remembered as a lasting symbol of friendship between the two countries.

On behalf of the Bobolo Community, Mrs Joylin Oli described the signing as a historic moment after years of effort.

“Today marks a significant milestone in our journey, a journey driven by a vision to secure safe and reliable water for every member of our community.

“We knocked on many doors in search of the right partners. Today, with the gracious support of the Japanese Embassy, our search has yielded fruit.”

She pledged the community’s full cooperation in ensuring the project is delivered successfully.
