Leaders complete retreat in Noro

By Ian Kaukui in Munda, Western province
The communique for the 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders’ Meeting is now complete and is currently under embargo at the discretion of the leaders.
Speaking to SIBC News, Solomon Islands High Commissioner to Fiji,  His Excellency Joseph Ma’ahanua, confirmed that the communique was completed and finalized this morning.
He stated that the Chair of the PIF and Prime Minister, Jeremiah Manele, along with his TROIKA members, will present the details of the communique at a press conference later today.
Meanwhile, the Pacific Leaders are now at the Munda International Airport, preparing to board their flight back to Honiara.
A meeting for the finalization of the communique, combined with the need to catch other international flights from Honiara, has led to the cancellation of their planned tour of the Noro SolTuna Cannery this morning.
While in Munda, the leaders also had the opportunity to visit local carvers and purchased various handmade products, including items made by local weavers.
Following the scheduled Press Conference, a closing ceremony for the 54th PIF Meeting will be held at Eastend Sports Park Multipurpose Hall in Honiara.
