MNPDC meets visiting UK delegation

The Ministry of National Planning and Development Coordination (MNPDC) recently hosted a visiting delegation from the United Kingdom (UK).

Minister for the MNPDC, Hon. Trevor Manemahaga, and his Permanent Secretary, Brian Lenga, greeted and held dialogue with members of the visiting delegation.

The delegation included the British High Commissioner, H.E Paul Turner, Head of the Pacific Team, Mrs. Catherine Barnes, and Head of Development for the Pacific, Mrs. Margareth Galy.

Mrs. Barnes and Mrs. Galy visited the Solomon Islands from 20th to 25th November.

During the visit, members of the delegation and MNPDC’s Minister and PS talked about a broad range of things including climate change, the Solomon Islands’ National Development Strategy (NDS) 2016-2035, governance, infrastructure and more.

Minister Manemahaga thanked members of the delegation for visiting the country saying such visit is important because it provides an opportunity for the Solomon Islands and the UK to not only discuss development issues but to keep and maintain personal relationships.

He said Solomon Islands relationship with the UK goes back in history and it is a relationship Solomon Islands values and looks forward to the continued cooperation and commitment towards the shared objectives of developing Solomon Islands.  

Minister Manemahaga noted that over the years Solomon Islands has benefited from the development assistance received from the UK through its multilateral and bilateral assistance.

He said the visit will renew Solomon Islands and UK shared commitment to building a sustainable and inclusive future for the people of Solomon Islands.
