PACER Plus Joint Committee Meeting Kicks Off in Honiara

HONIARA, Solomon Islands – The Ninth Meeting of the PACER Plus Joint Committee is underway in Honiara, Solomon Islands, with representatives from Pacific Island countries gathering to shape the future of regional cooperation.

In his opening remarks on Tuesday, the Chair of the Joint Committee and Permanent Secretary of the Solomon Islands Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Collin Beck, welcomed delegates and emphasised the importance of the meeting’s agenda, which includes reviewing progress under the Development and Economic Cooperation (DEC) Work Programme 2021-2025 and considering a new Work Programme for 2025-2030.

Mr Beck encouraged participants to approach discussions with a “Pacific way” spirit, characterised by open dialogue, inclusivity, and respect.

He also thanked the Head of the PACER Plus Implementation Unit (PPIU) Mr. Roy Lagolago and his team for their efforts in guiding the committee’s work.

The meeting aims to deliver outcomes that reflect the aspirations of Pacific Island nations, with decisions expected to influence regional cooperation beyond 2030.
