PM Manele Receives New Vehicle Fleet from Australia for RSIPF Ahead of Pacific Islands Forum
Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele, MP, on behalf of the Government of Solomon Islands and the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) received the first 22 of a new fleet of 61 vehicles handed over by the Government of Australia at the RSIPF Headquarters in Rove.
Prime Minister Manele said the vehicle handover marks “another important milestone in the strong and enduring partnership between the governments and peoples of Solomon Islands and Australia.”
He described the support as the “single largest transfer of vehicles to the RSIPF by any security partner since the RAMSI era.”
The new fleet, valued at approximately AUD$5.2 million (SBD$28.6 million), includes 40 Ford Ranger XLT, 10 Nissan Navara Pro-4X, and 11 Toyota Hilux, all fitted with specialized police equipment including light bars, sirens, and dash communication systems.

The newly donated vehicles.
The vehicles were supplied by local companies United Auto and Ela Motors, with installation of the police fit-out carried out by Solomon Islands auto electricians and mechanics, generating jobs and supporting local businesses.
“These vehicles will enable the RSIPF to provide unparalleled security during the 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting and leave a lasting legacy of a strengthened and mobile police force,” the Prime Minister said.
He highlighted Australia’s broader support for the Forum, which includes AUD$3.05 million (SBD$16.8 million) for solar air conditioning systems at key venues, AUD$11 million (SBD$60.5 million) for road improvements, and additional assistance in logistics, cybersecurity, protocol training, and emergency evacuation capabilities.
Altogether, Australia’s contribution is the largest donor-support and exceeds SBD$100 million, reflecting its deep commitment to Solomon Islands’ security, stability, and development.
Prime Minister Manele extended heartfelt gratitude to the Government and people of Australia, noting that the support “reflects the spirit of solidarity, respect, and friendship that continues to bind our two nations.”
He expressed confidence that “with the dedication of the RSIPF, the support of Australia and other partners, and the cooperation of our people, Solomon Islands will host a safe, peaceful, and successful 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting.”
