
Prime Minister Manele farewells Australian High Commissioner H.E. Hilton
Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele, today received a final courtesy visit from the outgoing Australian High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, His Excellency Mr. Rod Hilton, whose diplomatic tenure has come to an end.
Prime Minister Manele, speaking on behalf of the Government and people of Solomon Islands, conveyed profound appreciation to H.E. Hilton for his dedicated service and for the substantial contribution he has made to strengthening the longstanding partnership between Solomon Islands and Australia.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the Solomon Islands–Australia relationship is robust and productive, acknowledging Australia as a special development partner whose support spans nearly all sectors of national development.
He noted that the successful cooperation between the two countries is evident in key areas such as maritime security, agriculture, education, national and border security, trade, exports, sports, and a host of development priorities.

Prime Minister Manele further emphasized that as close-proximity partners, Solomon Islands and Australia share an enduring bond.
“We may have different views on issues at times, but as a family, we dialogue and move forward together.”
He also offered personal appreciation to H.E. Hilton, acknowledging the commitment, energy, and goodwill he brought to his three-year term in Solomon Islands.
His Excellency Rod Hilton meanwhile expressed his sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Manele and the Government for the kindness, support, guidance, and cooperation extended to him throughout his tenure.
He underscored that the past three years have seen significant achievements and meaningful progress in the Australia- Solomon Islands bilateral relationship.
H.E. Hilton also briefed Prime Minister Manele on developments across several joint initiatives, including the Royal Solomon Islands Police Academy, new police outposts in the West and East, Naha Birthing Centre, second undersea cable, new Agriculture Program, Solomon Islands Electoral Commission, support, and broader infrastructure assistance, among others.
The Government of Solomon Islands looks forward to welcoming the new Australian High Commissioner early next year and to continuing the strong and constructive partnership shared between the two countries.
