Prime Minister outlines priorities for 2026 following passage of national budget

Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele, MP, has outlined the Solomon Islands Government’s broad priorities for 2026 following the passage of the 2026 Appropriation Act.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, the Prime Minister said that with the budget now in place, the Government’s emphasis for the year is on implementation, taking into account available resources, institutional capacity, and external conditions.

At the national level, the Prime Minister said the Government enters 2026 following the passage of the 2026 Appropriation Act, with an emphasis on implementation.

The Prime Minister said Government attention in 2026 will be directed towards maintaining discipline in public financial management, supporting productive and resource sectors, progressing infrastructure and service delivery projects already underway, continuing institutional reforms, and fulfilling regional and international responsibilities.

He said progress will not always be immediate and not every issue can be resolved within a single year, but the Government will work steadily, prioritise carefully, and remain responsive to changing circumstances.
