Second Win For Ghupo FC As Waneagu United winless streak continues

S-League debutants Ghupo FC have picked up a second win in their campaign with a deserving 1-0 win over FC Juniper in today’s main match at the Lawson Tama Stadium.

A first half goal from Timothy Sanga in the 17^th minute saw Ghupo FC record back-to-back following their 2-1 win over Laugu United FC last Sunday.

The William Tino coached side had to settle early nerves in their defense which was able to fend off a wasteful Juniper side.

The win pushes Ghupo FC from 8^th spot to 6^th spot on the table with six points after four matches played.

Other results from today’s S-League matches saw Green Shield FC extending their unbeaten run in the competition to four games after defeating Sothern’s United FC 2-0.

Goals from Fred Newman in the 35^th minute and Clivert Sam in the 72^nd minute handed the Steve Aumanu Jnr their win in their campaign.

Final result for today’s matches at the Lawson Tama Stadium meanwhile saw SOSA FC settling for a 2-2 draw with 10-man Waneagu United FC.

Goals from Bobby Rickson Ledi in the 4^th minute and Wesley Toitana’s goal in the 20^th minute gave SOSA FC a commanding 2-0 lead but saw Rolland Kwai reducing the deficit for Waneagu in the 49^th minute before Alfred Sade found the equalizer in the 62^nd minute to salvage a point for his side.

“It’s a tough game but we are happy with the win. We’ll go back work on a few areas we failed in today for our upcoming matches,” Waneagu United FC Team Captain Alfred Fa’ataloa said.

Round 1 S-League matches meanwhile will continue today at the Lawson Tama Stadium as Marist FC takes on Honiara City FC at 11am followed by KOSSA FC and Central Coast FC at 1pm while Laugu United FC squares off with Malaita Kingz FC at 3pm.
