Solomon Islands and United States Government signed MCC-SITHP timeframe extension
The Solomon Islands government, through the Ministry of National Planning and Development Coordination (MNPDC), and the United States Government, through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), have signed a no-cost extension to the MCC-Solomon Islands Threshold Program (SITHP).
The program will now conclude on 22 August 2027.
The extension was signed by the MNPDC Minister, Hon. Trevor Manemahaga, witnessed by the U.S. Charge d’Affaires, Mr Daniel O’Hara, and MCC Resident Threshold Director, Mr Charles Jakosa.
MCC-SITHP is a partnership aimed at reducing poverty through economic growth by strengthening natural resource management. It consists of two projects:
• Forest Value Enhancement Project, and
• Accessing Land for Tourism Investment Facilitation Project.
The extension provides MCC-SITHP with additional time to complete remaining activities and achieve program goals. No additional funding is provided and all other conditions of the original Grant Agreement remain unchanged.
MCC is an independent U.S. Government agency Created by the U.S. Congress in 2004 to provide time-bound grants to countries that demonstrate strong governance, combat corruption and uphold democratic rights.
