Leader of Opposition Hon Matthew Wale has encouraged youths to take a greater interest in the governance and future of Solomon Islands.
Hon Wale highlighted this during his visit to White River School today.
He said the participation of young people in national affairs is vital to building a stronger, more accountable and democratic nation.
“Young people make up a large proportion of our population. Their voices, ideas and energy are essential in shaping the future direction of our country,” Hon Wale said.

The Opposition Leader encouraged youths to follow national issues, understand how government decisions affect their lives, and actively engage in constructive discussions about policy, leadership and development.
“Governance is not only the responsibility of politicians. It is the responsibility of every citizen, especially our young people who will inherit the country tomorrow,” he added.
Hon Wale also urged young people to take advantage of opportunities to learn about leadership, civic responsibility and public service, noting that informed and engaged youths help strengthen democracy and ensure leaders remain accountable.
He said building a culture where young people participate in discussions about national development will help the Solomon Islands make better decisions for future generations.
“Your ideas matter. Your voice matters. The future of our nation depends on the interest and involvement of its young people today,” Hon Wale said.
The Opposition Leader reaffirmed his commitment to engaging with youths and supporting initiatives that encourage civic awareness, leadership development and active participation in national life.
