45,074 voter transfers recorded
Voter registration on Luaniua Island.
The Solomon Islands Electoral Commission received a total of 128, 006 names, who registered during the voters registration period.
Of the total of 82,932 were new registrants while 45,074 were transfers.
Chief Electoral Officer Mose Saitala told SIBC News, the preliminary number was beyond their expectation of around 50,000.
Mr Saitala said the result was unexpected but he said the number would reduce during the objection and omission period.
The Chief Electoral Officer adds, the huge task for them now was to screen the accuracy of names given the large number of registrations.
