The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology will next month present a proposal paper to Cabinet on the development of the World Heritage Lake Tegano.
Minister of Environment, Samuel Manetoali made the announcement to the lake’s committee during a recent visit.
An SIBC team was present during the Minister’s visit and heard him say he will present the paper to the Cabinet before Rennell Bellona’s provincial Second Appointed Day next month.
SIBC’s Miriam Basia reports, the Government is working on a plan to develop the lake so its owners could benefit from their resources.
“The idea is for people living around the lake to benefit from the resources they have there. The Minister said his staff is currently working on a Cabinet paper for the Government to decide on how it can help the people living around the lake.”
Lake Tengano is situated in East Rennell, Renbel province.
