Solomon Islands women must be empowered to become business owners either in urban areas or in their provincial villages.

This is the concept the Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labour and Immigration is embarking on.

But the Ministry says before women can enter into the business sector, they must first know what businesses they are interested in.

Business trainers from the Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labour and Immigration can then equip them with the techniques- how to keep income and expense records.

The Ministry believes women are particularly good in managing money and should become better financial managers.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industries, Labour and Immigration organizes workshops for community women throughout Solomon Islands which focus basically on the small income generating projects.

The small income generating projects, the Ministry believes will help women in villages to earn incomes that should help them advance their livelihoods.

The ‘Start Your Own Business’ program continues in the future to ensure as many women as possible start their own businesses.
