The Pilemeri Community of Shortlands in the Western province has called on the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) Government to suspend Agroforestry-related activities on the island.

The call came about as Agroforestry-related activities have created various problems in the Shortland islands.

SIBC Stringer for Shortland islands John Kotaru reports.

“The Pilemeri community in Shortland Islands is calling on the Democratic Coalition for Change Government especially the Prime Minister and his Cabinet to suspend the agroforestry type of logging in the country. Agroforestry logging has caused a lot of problems in their community, causing disunity in families, disturbing peace and harmony in the village.”

SIBC News understands, various logging companies operating in the region have engaged in Agroforestry-related activities.
