Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo and his delegation have returned today from a four-legged trip to Cuba, Palau, Taiwan and Indonesia.

In Cuba, Prime Minister Lilo officially opened the Solomon Islands Mission in Havana. Following the Cuba stop, the Prime Minister was in Palau to attend the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Summit in Koror.

In Taiwan, Prime Minister Lilo met with the Taiwanese Foreign Minister in Taipei, after which he travelled to Indonesia to open the Solomon Islands Mission in Jakarta.

Speaking at a press conference upon his arrival at the Henderson International Airport this afternoon, the Prime Minister said Small Island Nations are seeking a world of partnership in cooperation.

He says mutual respect, peace and stability and the democratic values must be at the forefront of this partnership.

“As we all know that it is not the State that is causing a lot of problems in the world right now, it is non-state actors, wars have been privatized, most of that are privatized wars and we can see that everywhere and what we need to do is to continue to dialogue.”
