Police steps up security amidst current political situation

The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has stepped up its security operations for the current parliament meeting and in preparation for the Motion of No Confidence next week.

Police will be working closely with local communities in Honiara to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for all citizens.

Police are closely monitoring the current political situation and appeal to everyone to stay calm and allow our leaders to do their business.

RSIPF Commissioner, Mr. Mostyn Mangau, reminds Honiara residents and the good people of Solomon Islands to respect the principles of democracy.

“Our time was up during the voting process. Now it is their time for our leaders to make a decision on our behalf. Allow them to exercise it,” Commissioner Mangau said.

Mr. Mangau is appealing to members of the public not to spread false information about this motion, as it can lead to misinformation and confusion.

He said members of the public should stay calm, treat the coming days as business as usual, and allow members of parliament to do their work in accordance with the political processes.

Police will ensure public safety and fairness to this process.

Members of the public are advised to refrain from doing anything that may disrupt this democratic process and to refrain from taking advantage of the situation.
