Central Honiara Constituency supports SSEC National Mission Summit with $20,000
The Central Honiara Constituency (CHC) has supported the South Sea Evangelical Church (SSEC) with a donation of $20,000 to assist with hosting of the National Mission Summit in Honiara this week.
Constituency Development Officer Rexford Paul formally presented the cheque to the church organizing committee on August 16, 2025, at the SSEC office in Honiara.
About 500 church leaders from the six regions of SSEC in the country are attending the summit, which commenced on August 17 and will continue until August 22, 2025.
The summit’s objective is to discuss issues related to Mission and Evangelism.
The support was part of the constituency’s ongoing commitment and resolute action under the leadership of Honourable Member of Parliament (MP) Gordon Darcy Lilo, in recognition of the ongoing role of the church in promoting stability and strengthening communities in the country.
CDO Paul stated that MP Lilo and the constituency office are pleased to support the SSEC church in this program.
The support was made possible under the national government’s Constituency Development Funds (CDF) program, with funding sourced from the CHC budget allocation for 2024.
“CHC recognizes the importance of supporting churches within our community and the constituency. This program will definitely help our churches to spread the gospel in our beloved country, Solomon Islands,” CDO Paul emphasized.
During the handover, Mr. Paul also emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration within communities across the country.
“Let’s all work together, supporting each other and the communities in our country, Solomon Islands,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the church and the organizing committee, the SSEC General Secretary, Thomas Justus Weape expressed gratitude to the government through the Central Honiara Constituency office for the assistance.
“The church and our organizing committee express our heartfelt thanks and profound gratitude for this generous assistance from the CHC toward this program,” he said.
CDO Paul also took the opportunity to wish the SSEC Church success and God’s blessings on their program.
