Australia is hosting the Study Australia Mission 2025, organizing the biggest Study Australia Road Show Exhibition at the Heritage Park Hotel in Honiara.

This premier education event for Australian universities in the Pacific attracted students to university booths from 17-18 July to enquire about resources and information about studying in Australia.

Speaking to SIBC News, Patrick Ani, Senior Business Development Manager with the Australia Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), said they have 21 universities that went to Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea.

He said the event in Honiara is the second leg.

“The good thing about the road show is it provides person-to-person exchanges because what we see about opportunities is often based on internet searches, Google or Artificial Intelligence (AI) to try and capture what we’re interested in as students seeking opportunities in Australia.

“This event provides insight directly into the universities, covering their lifestyle and how to live as a student,” he explained

University representatives are present at the exhibition to talk to students and provide insights about their institutions.

This is the second road show since Australia first held one in 2023, and they have had a good turnout like this one.

“We’ve never brought the road show to Honiara before, so 2023 was the first one and we’ve come back because of the interest.

“We have good stakeholders that supported us – Australia Awards, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Solomon Islands and Austrade,” he said.

He added that the expected outcome is increased enrolments for the universities and establishing stronger institutional connections locally.
