Biosecurity Solomon Islands Announces Changes to Phytosanitary Certificate Issuance at Honiara International Airport

Biosecurity Solomon Islands (BSI), under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, wishes to inform the public of important changes to services provided at the Biosecurity Airport office, effective Monday, 11 August 2025.

From this date, the Biosecurity Airport will no longer issue phytosanitary certificates for betelnut and mustard stick. Instead, the Airport office will provide:

– Inspection Certificates for handicrafts and artefacts
– Phytosanitary Certificates for plant and plant products – frozen or cooked (excluding betelnut and mustard stick).

Travellers intending to carry betelnut or mustard stick must now obtain their phytosanitary certificates in advance from the Biosecurity Solomon Islands Head Office, located at the Catholic Chancery Building, opposite St. John School, Rove. The Head Office can be contacted on Phone: 24657.

“We thank the travelling public for their understanding and cooperation as we implement these changes to improve efficiency and compliance with biosecurity requirements,” said Biosecurity Solomon Islands.
