A long-time serving Member of Parliament for East Makira has passed away in Honiara yesterday.

The Late David Sitai has served as Member of Parliament for East Makira from 1984 to 2010.

Since his time as Parliament Member, the Late Sitai has been a great supporter of the People’s Alliance Party (PAP).

Sharing their condolences on behalf of the party is President Sir Nathaniel Waena.

“The People’s Alliance Party would like to send our condolence message to the wife of the Late David Sitai and his good children upon learning of the passing away of the late David Sitai at the National Referral Hospital. We are aware that he was sick for a long time and share Mrs. Sitai’s loss with her children and the leaders and people of East Makira Constituency. Mr. Sitai has been a very strong member of the People’s Alliance Party since his election until he passed on.”

Sir Waena described the Late David Sitai as a great leader, calling upon current leaders of Makira Ulawa Province to emulate the credible leadership styles of former Parliament Members of the Province, who have passed on.

“And so I would like to say this to our current leaders of Makira Ulawa Province, asking them to emulate the leadership credibility and integrity of our former Parliamentarians who have already gone before us such as the Late David Sitai, Late Mamaloni and the Late Benedict Kinika who were very strong national leaders. That’s what I’d like to say to our present Members of Parliament, to consider how they lead our people today.”

The Late David Sitai was survived by his wife, children and grandchildren.
