Government warns Public Servants to remain Neutral

The Ministry of Public Service has issued a circular reminding Public Servants to remain neutral and apolitical amidst the current political situation.

“All public servants are hereby reminded to remain apolitical and abide within the bounds of the General Orders.

“In light of the current political debate, public servants must refrain from publishing or making comments that may be deemed political in nature,” Permanent Secretary Luke Cheka said.

Cheka cited General Orders C107 (b) and (c), emphasising the importance of professionalism and continuity in government administration.

“Matters of politics are the responsibility of our elected leaders. Our role is to ensure stability and effective functioning of government administration.

“We will not hesitate to take action against officers who breach these provisions,” Cheka warned.

Public servants are expected to maintain professionalism and deliver services without bias or favour.
