Kakamora super sub sinks Frigates in Solomon Cup classic

Makira province has beaten Isabel province in a trilling 2-0  Solomon Cup victory at Lawson Tama stadium.

The Real Kakamora side had to wait till the end to beat the Frigates through substitute Joseph Hiri, who scored the two goals inside the last four added minutes.

The first goal was scored in the 90th Minute, from a Nicholas Muri through ball, and the second was scored in the 94th minute, which was again from a Nicholas Muri assist.

The game was a tough encounter as both teams had equal goal opportunities in the first half, with veteran Makira captain Nicholas Muri and midfielder Ian Ngahu orchestrating the attack for the Kakamora side.

The Isabel province side also had chances through striker Mostyn Kelly, who at times caused trouble for the Makira defence and had a couple chances on goal but just couldn’t find the target.

The win takes Makira to second place in group B with 6 points and will meet Malaita Eagles on Friday, in what is expected to be a tough encounter with the defending champions.

In the second game Western Province came from behind to beat a valiant Renbel side 2-1 to go top of group B.

The Turtles trailed on half time by 1-0  after a stunning free kick goal from Avaiki chiefs defender Eugene Tekobi to silence the dominant favorites.

However, the Turtles regrouped in the second half and got the equalizer through an impressive goal by Robert TanSoloavoqa , and captain Steve Riqio sealed the victory  through a free kick inside the dying stages of the game.
