Opposition Leader to launch School Visit Program

The Leader of Opposition Hon Matthew Wale will begin his official school visit program aimed at engaging directly with students, teachers, and school administrators.

Press Secretary to the Leader of Opposition Mr Douglas Marau said this is an opportunity to dialogue with teachers and students and also to better understand the challenges facing the country’s education system.

Hon Wale will visit White River School this Friday 13th at 12pm and the University of South Pacific (USP) on Friday 20th next week.

The Press Secretary said the program will involve visits to a number of schools where the Opposition Leader will meet with school leaders, teachers, and students to hear firsthand their experiences and concerns.

He said the initiative is intended to provide a clearer picture of the realities schools face on the ground.

Mr Marau said education remains one of the most important investments in the future of the nation and that policymakers must stay connected to the realities faced by those in the classroom.

“Education is the foundation of our country’s development. It is important that the Opposition Leader step out of his office and listen directly to the voices of teachers, students and school communities,” the Press Secretary said.

He added that the visits will help highlight issues such as school infrastructure, availability of learning materials, teacher welfare, and challenges related to scholarships and education administration.

“The aim is not only to listen but to ensure that the concerns raised by our schools are brought into national discussions on education policy,” he said.

Mr Marau said the school visit program would also allow the Opposition Leader to better inform policy positions and continue advocating for improvements in the education sector.

“It is also an opportunity for students to better understand the role of the Opposition Group as an essential pillar in our democracy,” he said.

The visits will continue throughout the year as part of the Opposition’s ongoing engagement with communities and key sectors of national development.
