PARLIAMENT:SHORT BUS ROUTE.

The National Parliament submits, the Short Bus Routes Report was completed within the time frame stipulated by its term of reference and has been tabled in Parliament on the 8th of August 2013.

This statement is made in response to a call by the Forum Solomon Islands International for the national parliament to reveal what has become of the Honiara Short Bus Route report compiled by a parliamentary select committee last year.

Forum Solomon Islands Chief Executive Officer, Benjamin Afuga made the call in light of increasing complaints by members of the general public that public buses are continuing to make short routes and a few even create additional shorter routes.

But the Parliament states, a notice for Parliament to resolve into the Committee of the whole house to discuss the report was made by the Chairman of the Special Select Committee Moffat Fugui on the 13th of September 2013.

The statement adds the notice had reached maturity on the 17th of September 2013, saying during the December meeting the Chairman of the Special Select Committee was unable to move the motion because of a special adjournment.

It adds the next opportunity for the motion to be moved on the Report will be during the next parliament sitting at a time yet to be determined by the Government.
