The Parliamentary Opposition Group has supported the Independent Leader’s call for the Leadership Code Commission (LCC) to investigate the Prime Minister’s recent purchase of a number of properties.

In a statement today, the Opposition Group says it supports the call made by the Independent Leader to clear the air over serious allegations pertaining to the Prime Minister’s acquisition of private properties in Honiara.

The statement adds the Prime Minister should demonstrate true leadership to answer to these allegations – by providing his source of funding details of these funding’s and properties.

This is in the interest of the integrity of the Office he occupies as the Prime Minister, as well as his own personal reputation and character.

As the head of his Government, he has a duty to protect the integrity of that office and no official or personal affairs/dealings must be allowed to tarnish that office and his personal reputation.

The Parliamentary Opposition further adds the Prime Minister should not remain tightlipped over these serious allegations.

In light of these serious allegations levelled against the Prime Minister, the Parliamentary Opposition Group also challenged the Prime Minister to show leadership by bringing back the legislation on the anti-corruption bill to Parliament.
