
PM urges RSIPF to maintain its professionalism ahead of PIF Leaders meeting
The Prime Minister, Hon. Jeremiah Manele has expressed satisfaction with the preparedness of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) ahead of the 54th Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Leaders Meeting scheduled for September.
The RSIPF’s Police Response Team (PRT) and Close Personal Protection (CPP) Unit demonstrated their capabilities in public order management, VIP protection, and crisis response during a scenario-based exercise.
Speaking after the display, the Prime Minister said he and his delegation were impressed by the level of readiness and professionalism shown by the RSIPF in preparation for the regional event.
“I urge the RSIPF to continue maintaining its professionalism as it prepares for this important regional engagement,” Prime Minister Manele stated.

Two mock scenarios were enacted: one involved the PRT dispersing an aggressive crowd using rubber bullets, while the second showcased the CPP Unit securing a high-profile individual under a hostile situation.
The demonstration, commanded by Superintendent Lionel Kapisa, highlighted the RSIPF’s capacity to handle complex security challenges. The Prime Minister and his delegation commended the units for their discipline and skill.

Solomon Islands will host the 54th PIF Leaders Meeting this September, an annual gathering regarded as the premier forum for Pacific leaders.
The event will bring together heads of government, regional organizations, dialogue partners, and observers. Chairmanship of the Forum rotates among member countries.
This year’s meeting is one of several high-profile regional events Solomon Islands is proud to host, following the successful Pacific Games in November 2023.
The country’s growing reputation as a capable host is underpinned by the professionalism of institutions like the RSIPF, which plays a crucial role in ensuring safety and security.
