PRC EMBASSY IN SOLOMON ISLANDS WELCOMES NEW AMBASSADOR

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Solomon Islands has organized a welcome reception in honor of His Excellency Ambassador Cai Weiming the new ambassador of PRC to the country.

In attendance was the Prime Minister Hon Manasseh Sogavare along with the Speaker of the National Parliament, government Ministers, cabinet members, diplomatic corps, and heads of private sector organizations.

In his address during the reception, Prime Minister Sogavare welcomed His Excellency Weiming stating the country is extremely grateful to have him as the new PRC Ambassador to Solomon Islands.

He said he is confident that Mr Weiming will build on the good work that has been done by his predecessor.

“I’m also please to note that the PRC-Solomon Islands relationship has been elevated to a comprehensive strategic partner status based on the mutual respect for a common agenda and a shared prosperity as we continue our journey in a new era of bilateral relations,” Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare expressed.

Meanwhile His Excellency Ambassador Cai Weiming expressed PRC’s appreciation to Solomon Islands for recognizing its ‘One China Policy’.

He said China will always be a trustworthy friend, a reliable brother, and a faithful partner to Solomon Islands.

“China will always support Solomon Islands in upholding its sovereignty, security, and development interest,” Ambassador Weiming said.

Upon his arrival into the country last week, H.E Weiming presented his letter of credence to His Excellency the Governor General, Sir David Vunagi and made a courtesy call to Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare.
