Premier Sagupari hails opening of the luxury Raiders Hotel in Tulagi

The Premier of the Central Islands Provincial Government, Hon. Kenneth Sagupari, hailed the opening of the Raiders Hotel in the old capital of Tulagi on Friday, 13 March, saying the facility marks a significant milestone in the province’s journey towards inclusive growth through tourism development.

Premier Sagupari was amongst the guest speakers at the event alongside the Minister for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Choylin Yim Douglas and the Minister of Development Planning and Aid Coordination, Hon. Trevor Manemahaga.

He said the opening of the Raiders hotel is the beginning of a new chapter of investment in the province, highlighting confidence and growth in the tourism industry.

“Today represents confidence, opportunity and the beginning of a new chapter of investment and economic growth in our Province.

“We envisioned that once these ventures are properly resourced, we will become the next hub of tourism in the Solomon Islands,” Premier Sagupari said.

The Premier acknowledged the support of the National Government, particularly the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in funding tourism projects in the province.

“We will deliver, and we will not let you down in our province,” he assured.

The Raiders Hotel is expected to create jobs, stimulate business, and showcase the province’s unique culture, heritage, and natural beauty.

Premier Sagupari encouraged stakeholders to collaborate in making Central Islands Province a premier destination, saying, “Let’s make tourism work for us, for our communities and for the prosperity of Central Islands Province.”

The hotel’s owner, Mr Lin Mao Fong, was congratulated on the milestone achievement, with the Premier assuring him of the Provincial Government’s support.

The opening of Raiders Hotel is seen as a testament to the potential of Central Islands Province as a tourism hub, with its rich natural heritage, cultural heritage, colonial, and WWII history.

The newly opened Raiders Hotel has brought excitement to the island, marking a significant milestone in the province’s tourism development.

The National Government has pledged support for tourism projects in the province, including funding for the recently opened Double Island Resort and the revival of the once popular Anuha Island Resort.
