Prime Minister pays tribute to outgoing Commissioner of Police

Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele today paid tribute to outgoing Police Commissioner Mr. Mostyn Mangau during a farewell parade at Rove Field, marking the conclusion of his six-year tenure.

The ceremony was attended by Police Minister Hon. Jimson Tanangada, RSIPF officers, ranks and file, senior government officials, and representatives of donor and development partners from the Ministry of Police, National Security and Correctional Services.

The Prime Minister acknowledged Mr. Mangau’s leadership of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) from 29 November 2019 to 31 December 2025, noting his dedication and steady guidance.

“Commissioner Mangau has led the RSIPF through both routine duties and challenging times with professionalism and perseverance,” Prime Minister Manele said.

During his tenure, the RSIPF provided security for national and regional events, including the 2023 Pacific Games, the National General Elections, and the Pacific Islands Forum Leaders’ Meeting. These efforts helped maintain public confidence in national institutions.

The Prime Minister also noted Mr. Mangau’s contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the RSIPF supported border management, quarantine enforcement, and public order measures, while continuing essential policing services.

The launch of the RSIPF 10-Year Strategic Direction was highlighted as a key milestone, providing a roadmap for ongoing reform, capability development, and service delivery in the coming decade.

Prime Minister Manele congratulated incoming Acting Commissioner Mr. Mathias Lenialu, encouraging him to continue building on the strategic direction established by his predecessor. He also thanked RSIPF officers, the Ministry for Police, National Security and Correctional Services, donor partners, and the family of Mr. Mangau for their support.
