RAPPP visits and engages with Tetere police and family members

Members of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Local Engaged Contractors (LECs) from the RSIPF & AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP) recently visited Tetere Police Station.

The visit was to recognize the hard-working police officers and the ongoing support they receive from their families.

The program designed by RAPPP’s Health Wellbeing & Community Engagement (HWCE) Team is based on their successful community engagement program.

The event included the RSIPF Chaplain providing advice on strengthening family connections and strategies to deal with current family issues.

Discussions were also held on policy, legislation, and expectations around appropriate and respectful behaviors within the workplace.

The HWCE fitness team discussed nutritious eating and how police officers can maintain their health and fitness throughout their policing careers.

Whilst the adults were discussing their well-being, spiritual and physical health, the RSIPF children were outside enjoying games and a sports program.

Tetere RSIPF children posed for a photo during the engagement program.

At the conclusion of the program, a barbeque and gifts were supplied to the participants. The gifts included police uniform items such as boots and trousers gifted from AFP officers in Australia, as well as RAPPP merchandise, hats, t-shirts, and sporting items.

The HWCE team is also supplying volleyball posts, nets, and balls to each local station. This initiative is to encourage police to develop a healthier lifestyle and to boost closer ties with their local communities, who do not have access to a volleyball court. The volleyball initiative will culminate in an upcoming volleyball tournament.

To date, the Police Station Family Days have been held at White River Police Station, Henderson Station, Naha Station, and now Tetere Station.

Advisor Kevin Shaw said, “The HWCE Team wanted to show our appreciation and provide a program specifically for the dedicated local police officers and their families.”
