Road construction works temporarily paused due to wet weather

Road construction works in Honiara and several provinces have been temporarily paused due to the current wet weather condition.

The Ministry of Infrastructure Development said this is to ensure the safety of construction crews and machineries.

To guarantee the quality of the materials being laid, they must wait for the weather to stop before work resumes.

Residents especially in urban areas are advised to avoid disposing of waste in drains or streams.

During heavy rain, trash clogs drainage systems, forcing water onto the main highways causing avoidable damage to  road infrastructures.
