
SIG lauds Woodford Solobot Team

The Solomon Islands Government, through the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MEHRD) has acknowledged the Woodford International School robotics team for winning the fourth place in the recent international robotics competition held in Panama, Central America.
The competition final took place over the weekend.
Known as the Solobot Team, the students arrived back in the country yesterday with their Robotic Mentor and Coach Lerric Tito.
They were welcomed at the Honiara International Airport by the MEHRD Permanent Secretary, Dr. Franco Rodie.
Dr. Rodie described the team as national heroes.
“On behalf of the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development and the Government, I welcome our heroes for their outstanding achievement in the robotics competition they participated in.
“I cannot recall a time when a secondary school has participated in this robotics competition and achieved fourth place out of 190 countries,” he said.
This achievement places Solomon Islands fourth globally in the school robotics competition rankings.
